The University of Hawai'i announced this week that a record 77 student‑athletes have been named to its 2026 spring All‑Academic team, recognizing excellence both on the playing fields and in the classroom.
A Record‑Breaking Academic Cohort
To earn a spot on the team, each athlete must carry a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA, have completed at least one full academic year at the university, and meet the participation thresholds set by their respective sports.
The honored group spans a wide array of spring competitions, including baseball, beach volleyball, men’s and women’s golf, softball, tennis, track and field, men’s volleyball and women’s water polo.
Track and field emerged as the most represented squad, with 18 athletes earning the distinction, followed closely by softball and women’s water polo, each contributing a dozen scholars.
Academic majors among the honorees reflect a broad spectrum of interests, from Hawaiian Studies and Sociology to Mechanical Engineering, Finance, and Molecular Biosciences, underscoring the institution’s commitment to developing well‑rounded leaders.
University officials highlighted that the achievement not only celebrates individual perseverance but also reinforces the school’s broader mission of integrating athletic ambition with scholarly rigor.
