The University of Houston Soccer program unveiled its 2026 captains, naming Ella Morgan, Morgan Donohue, and Casey Maddox as the leaders who will guide the Cougars for the upcoming campaign.
Maddox becomes the first player in recent memory to serve two consecutive years as captain, while Morgan and Donohue step into their first captaincy roles, bringing fresh energy and continuity to the squad.
Morgan, a native of Allen, Texas, arrives after a standout tenure at Stephen F. Austin, where she earned Southland Conference Goalkeeper of the Year and Scholar‑Athlete of the Year honors in 2024.
Donohue etched her name in program history by scoring the game‑tying goal against Texas, snapping a two‑decade winless streak and sparking excitement among fans.
Building on Recent Success
Under head coach Ben Williams, the Cougars captured both the 2024 Southland Conference regular‑season and tournament titles, establishing a strong foundation for the next chapter.
Maddox’s statistical impact was evident last season, as she appeared in all 18 matches, started 12, logged 867 minutes, and contributed career goals against St. Mary's (TX) and BYU.
The 2026 schedule opens at the Carl Lewis International Complex against FGCU in Fort Myers, Florida, before the team travels to face Northwestern State.
The captains have articulated a clear vision: to set high standards, uplift teammates, and represent the University of Houston and the broader soccer community with humility and purpose.
