University of Jamestown Women’s Soccer Prepares for Historic 2026 NCAA Division II Season

Returning stars and veteran coach Nick Becker aim to make an impact in a packed schedule

The University of Jamestown women's soccer team is set to open its 2026 campaign on August 30 against Roosevelt University, marking the first full season in which the program will compete as a fully accredited member of NCAA Division II. The milestone comes after the team completed an expedited provisional membership process, positioning the Jimmies to face a national schedule of opponents at the Division II level.

A New Chapter for the Jimmies

Head coach Nick Becker, the winningest coach in program history with 145 career victories, returns for his 15th year at the helm. Becker brings a blend of experience and tactical acumen that has shaped the team's identity, and he is eager to guide a roster that has grown through the recent transition to full Division II status.

Among the returning standouts is senior forward Vega Canada, the team's leading scorer from last season with three goals, who will anchor the offense. Junior defender Kyah Gabel, the 2025 Defensive Player of the Year, started every game and logged the most minutes, providing stability at the back. Juniors Nellie Brown and Langley Grow also return, each contributing three points from the previous season, including a game‑winning goal by Brown that highlighted their clutch performance.

The schedule features 18 matches, comprising three non‑conference fixtures, a full slate of 15 NSIC opponents and a four‑game homestand that will test the team against regional rivals in cities such as Chicago, Davenport, Minot and Winona State. The Jimmies will also travel to face Concordia University‑St. Paul and other conference foes throughout October, creating a demanding but exciting road ahead.

If the Jimmies qualify, the NSIC tournament is slated for early November, offering a potential pathway to the NCAA postseason. The coaching staff and players say the focus is on consistency, sharpening both offensive and defensive execution, and making a deep run that could redefine the program's national profile.
