New Tailgating Rules Aim to Keep Kroger Field Safe
The University of Kentucky Athletics announced that tailgating activities at Kroger Field will officially commence on August 8 at 8 a.m., just ahead of the first home game of the 2025 season. The early start gives fans ample time to claim spots while the university tightens safety protocols.
All tents and trailers must be fitted with contact‑information tags beginning that morning. Officials warned that any untagged structures will be removed from the premises, ensuring a clear record of who is using the grounds.
Stakes that penetrate more than four inches into the ground require prior approval from UK Athletics, a rule designed to protect underground utilities and prevent damage to the stadium’s infrastructure. Permanent installations around the venue are also banned, reinforcing the temporary nature of fan‑hosted setups.
Fans are reminded to keep their tailgating areas clear of obstacles that could impede parking or emergency access. Blocking designated spaces is prohibited, and any violations may result in removal of the offending equipment.
Premium Tailgating Services Now Available
In partnership with REVELxp, the athletics department is offering full‑service tailgating packages that include catering, waste removal and on‑site staff assistance. The collaboration aims to provide a convenient, upscale experience for supporters who prefer a turnkey solution.
All temporary structures must be dismantled and removed by December 6 at 5 p.m. Eastern Time, giving fans a clear deadline to vacate the premises and helping the university maintain the field’s condition for future events.
