University of Richmond’s field hockey program is set for a demanding 2026 season, as head coach Martu Loncarica unveiled the full schedule this week.
The Spiders will enjoy 11 home contests at Crenshaw Field, giving fans ample opportunity to support the team on its own turf.
The season opens with a trio of pre‑season exhibitions against familiar foes Maryland, William & Mary and James Madison, setting an early tone of competition.
A challenging non‑conference slate
Richmond’s non‑conference slate features three Atlantic Coast Conference programs and top opponents from the Big East, CAA, MAC, Mountain Pacific Sports Federation and the Patriot League, promising tough tests before league play.
Early August brings matchups with Queens (N.C.) and perennial NCAA Tournament powerhouse Duke, followed by a road trip to face American in Washington, D.C., and a visit to Longwood in Virginia.
September continues with home series against Georgetown, 2025 NCAA runner‑up North Carolina and Atlantic 10 rival Davidson, before a trip to Williamsburg to meet William & Mary and a showdown with Saint Joseph’s in Philadelphia.
Conference battles and beyond
October’s schedule includes home games versus La Salle and Liberty, a business trip to Missouri to take on Saint Louis, and a bye‑week doubleheader against Delaware and Old Dominion.
The regular season will close with home contests against Louisville and crosstown rival VCU, wrapping up Atlantic 10 action before the conference championship.
The 2026 Atlantic 10 Conference Championship is slated for November 5 and 7, rounding out a busy and exciting year for Richmond field hockey.
