UNLV Baseball Earns Eighth Consecutive ABCA Academic Excellence Award

Rebels combine athletic success with top‑tier classroom performance

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas baseball program celebrated a milestone as its 2025‑26 squad was honored with the American Baseball Coaches Association’s Team Academic Excellence Award, a distinction that marks the eighth straight year the Rebels have earned the accolade.

The award, which recognizes teams that maintain a collective GPA of at least 3.0, was bestowed upon 132 Division I programs nationwide, underscoring the Rebels’ consistent scholarly performance alongside their on‑field competition.

Academic Excellence and Athletic Achievement

During the 2025‑26 season the Rebels posted a 30‑25 record and advanced to the Mountain West tournament, a showing that blended competitive grit with classroom dedication.

Twenty‑two players earned spots on the Spring 2026 Academic All‑MW Team, and five individuals — Nin Burns II, Reggie Bussey, Carson Lane, Gunnar Myro and Felix Ong — were selected to the College Sports Communicators Academic All‑District squad.

Gunnar Myro further distinguished the team by earning a place on the 2026 College Sports Communicators Academic All‑America Division I Baseball Second Team, highlighting the program’s growing reputation for producing scholar‑athletes.

The recognition comes as the Rebels continue to meet the ABCA’s minimum GPA threshold, a benchmark that over 800 programs surpassed this year, reflecting a broader culture of academic ambition within collegiate baseball.
