UNLV Men’s Soccer Adds 13 New Players for 2026 Season

A blend of domestic and international talent aims to lift the program’s profile

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas announced this week that its men’s soccer program will welcome a fresh cohort of 13 athletes for the 2026 season, a mix that blends home‑grown talent with players arriving from abroad.

A Diverse Mix of Talent

Eight of the newcomers hail from across the United States, while five come from overseas, bringing a variety of playing styles and cultural perspectives to the roster.

Among the arrivals, defender Akseli Ekqvist will join from West Virginia after a stint with the Houston Dynamo Academy and a youth career with the Finnish U‑14 national team, while forward Maxim Scordo, a native of Newport Beach, California, arrives from Dayton where he topped the Colorado Rapids Academy’s all‑time scoring chart.

Defender Farhan Moustafa, who graduated early from Gonzaga after starting all 51 games and capturing the 2022 GA Cup with the Seattle Sounders Academy, adds depth to the back line, and midfielder Owen Gall brings top‑level experience from FC Dallas, where he helped the club win the 2020 Dallas Cup and the Copa Rayados.

Other signings include Everett Dwyer, a forward from Houston’s Stratford High School and MLS Next nominee, Pol Izquierdo from Spain’s Tercera RFEF, Jose Mondi from South Africa’s Kovsie FC, Oliver Clow from Toronto who signed a development deal with Forge FC, goalkeeper Matthew Gomez from the San Jose Earthquakes Academy, the twin duo Marius and Thomas Gulbrandsen from Norway’s Ålesund, Rome Kramer from Utah’s Barca Academy, and defender Jacob Miranda from Anthem, Arizona, who trained with Real Salt Lake’s academy.

Coach Dave Sitton expressed confidence that the new group will strengthen the program both on the pitch and in the classroom, noting that each player has demonstrated a commitment to academic excellence alongside athletic ambition.
