The South Carolina High School League has launched a public vote to crown the 2026 Upstate baseball player of the year, inviting fans to weigh in on a field that blends raw talent with championship pedigree. Ballots must be submitted by 5 p.m. on June 21, giving the community a brief but decisive window to shape the honor.
Carson Bolemon, a left‑handed pitcher from Southside Christian, enters the conversation after guiding his team to a Class 3A state championship. His dominance on the mound is underscored by a 0.17 earned‑run average and 91 strikeouts across 41.1 innings, numbers that have set a high bar for his competitors.
Parker Davis, a Clemson signee who starred for Fountain Inn, brings a different kind of impact. At the plate he posted a .392 average, launched four home runs and drove in 24 runs, helping the Knights reach the 4A Upper State finals and cementing his reputation as a clutch performer.
Palmer Hornick, committed to Virginia Tech, earned the distinction of Class 5A Division 1 player of the year after a spectacular season. He batted .510, smashed nine homers and amassed 50 RBIs, a combination of power and precision that has made him a favorite among voters.
Bo Lowrance, a projected first‑round pick in the upcoming MLB draft, rounds out the quartet. As a shortstop and third baseman for his high school, he hit 12 home runs, maintained a .435 average and contributed 40 RBIs, showcasing the all‑around skill set that scouts are eager to see at the next level.
The competition reflects more than individual statistics; it highlights the depth of baseball talent nurtured across the Upstate’s high schools. Each athlete has helped his team advance deep into the playoffs, and the final vote will not only celebrate personal achievement but also underscore the region’s growing influence on the sport.
