USA Field Hockey has unveiled a quartet of officials who will carry the red, white and blue onto the world stage in the coming months. Their assignments span two high‑profile events, each demanding a blend of technical acumen and on‑court authority.
Spotlight on International Appointments
Benjamin Peters, a veteran umpire with more than a decade of international experience, has been chosen to officiate at the FIH Hockey Women’s Nations Cup in Auckland, New Zealand, from June 14 through June 21. Peters’ résumé includes three consecutive seasons in the FIH Hockey Pro League, underscoring his standing among the sport’s elite.
Lurah Hess will serve as the technical delegate for the Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, scheduled for July 24 to August 4. Her background features service as a technical official at the FIH Hockey Women’s Junior World Cup in Santiago, Chile, a testament to her deep understanding of the game’s administrative side.
Suzi Sutton joins the roster as an umpire manager, bringing over 140 international matches of expertise. Earlier this year she was added to the FIH International Panel, a recognition that places her among the most trusted administrators of the sport’s competitive framework.
Erika Barbera rounds out the group as an umpire for the same Central American and Caribbean Games. Recently named to the FIH International Panel, Barbera has already tested her mettle on the global stage, having officiated at the Junior Pan American Challenge in Bridgetown, Barbados.
The selections reflect USA Field Hockey’s commitment to deploying seasoned talent across both competitive and supportive roles. Each official’s appointment is expected to bolster the nation’s presence on the international circuit while fostering the development of emerging talent within the umpiring community.
