USA Hockey has launched a network of regional sled hockey camps that serve as the foundation for a new generation of players, offering a pathway from local leagues to elite competition.
The camps travel to cities such as Denver, Eagan, Fishers, Amherst, Reno and Haymarket, are open to participants of all ages, and cost $125 for a three‑day session. Organizers describe the program as a player development pyramid that moves athletes from grassroots play through regional and national development camps to tryouts for the U.S. National Sled Team.
National team veterans such as Evan Nichols, Declan Farmer and Erica McKee regularly attend the camps, sharing techniques and personal stories that resonate with youngsters who look up to them. Coach Chuck Gridley and program director David Hoff help coordinate logistics and ensure safety on the ice, while volunteer Dan Brennan assists with equipment setup.
Grassroots Momentum
Recent dominance on the Paralympic stage, including five consecutive gold medals, has amplified visibility for the sport and attracted sponsors eager to support its growth.
