The 2026 college baseball season has drawn to a close, and the transfer portal is now buzzing with movement. The University of Southern California finished the year with its most successful campaign in more than two decades, earning a spot in the Chapel Hill Super Regional.
A Roster in Flux
Yet the triumph is shadowed by a wave of departures. Designated hitter/catcher Augie Lopez and freshman pitchers Diego Velazquez and Gavin Lauridsen have entered the portal, joining a handful of other key contributors.
The exodus extends beyond the mound, affecting position players such as catchers Richard Tejeda and Jarrett Sabol, infielder Maddox Riske, and outfielders Nolan Eberwein and Will Stickney. In total, ten players have signaled intentions to finish their collegiate careers elsewhere.
Head coach Andy Stankiewicz now faces the task of reshaping the squad. While the loss of talent is significant, the coaching staff remains confident that the program’s recent momentum will translate into another strong postseason run next year.
