USC Upstate's men's basketball program has added a new piece to its 2026‑27 roster, announcing the signing of Amont'e Allen-Johnson, a guard who spent the past season at Florida Southwestern State College.
A Versatile Addition to the Spartans
During his lone year with the Buccaneers, Allen-Johnson appeared in 30 games, starting 26, and posted averages of 8.1 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game, highlighted by a 19‑point outing against Ranger College.
He also contributed a steal per game on average, peaking with four steals on December 12, 2025, against Florida Coastal Prep, underscoring his defensive instincts.
Before college, Allen-Johnson honed his game at Indian Hills Community College, earning NJCAA D1 Men's Basketball All-Region 11 Second Team honors and two ICCAC DI Athlete-of-the-Week selections, and later at Grand Blanc High School in Michigan, where he led his team to a 2021 state championship and was named All-State and Saginaw Valley League MVP.
Head Coach Marty Richter praised the newcomer, noting that Allen-Johnson's toughness and community impact will be felt both on and off the court, and that his arrival in June will bolster the program's depth.
The signing reflects the program's continued focus on recruiting players who blend offensive versatility with defensive grit, a philosophy that aligns with the Upstate community's values.
