Four members of the USC Upstate baseball roster have been recognized among the nation’s top student‑athletes, earning College Sports Communicators Academic All‑District honors for the 2026 season.
A Season of Accolades
The selections come as the Spartans conclude a campaign that has already etched its name into the program’s record books, delivering a historic run that combined on‑field success with classroom achievement.
Max Kaplan, a sophomore left‑hander from Glencoe, Illinois, was highlighted for his dual contributions on the mound and in the classroom, earning Academic All‑District honors and being named Big South Starting Pitcher of the Week.
Tyler Lang, a redshirt sophomore catcher hailing from Chesterfield, Missouri, added to the accolades by securing a spot on the Big South All‑Tournament Team and earning Second Team All‑Big South recognition.
Wylie Waters, a senior infielder from Vancouver, British Columbia, was crowned the Big South Tournament Most Valuable Player and garnered Honorable Mention All‑Big South honors, underscoring his pivotal role in the team’s deep tournament run.
Henry Zenor, a redshirt sophomore outfielder from St. Louis, Missouri, not only made the All‑Tournament and Second Team All‑Big South squads but also advanced to the national ballot for the CSC Academic All‑America award, a testament to his all‑around excellence.
Collectively, the four players posted impressive statistical lines: Kaplan finished 5‑5 with two saves across 20 appearances; Lang compiled a .295 batting average with a .424 on‑base percentage; Waters posted a .317 average and a .551 slugging percentage; and Zenor led the team with a .333 average and a .495 slugging mark while starting every game.
