A New Era for USC Women's Basketball
The 2026 Players Era Women's Basketball Showcase will take place Dec. 19‑20 at the Michelob ULTRA Arena inside the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. The two‑day event will feature six games, including USC's matchups against Notre Dame and Duke, and will be broadcast nationally on ESPN and ESPN2.
Organized by Players Era, the showcase marks a milestone with a seven‑figure name, image and likeness pool, the largest ever for a single women's college basketball event. This financial backing underscores a broader shift in how collegiate athletics are reimagined through innovative NIL opportunities.
USC enters the competition with one of the nation's deepest rosters. Returning stars JuJu Watkins, the 2024‑25 consensus National Player of the Year, and Jazzy Davidson, the 2025‑26 National Freshman of the Year, headline a group that also includes junior Kennedy Smith, an All‑Big Ten Defensive Team selection.
The Trojans will also field new additions such as Saniyah Hall, the nation's top recruit, and transfers Pania Davis from Florida State and Ryan Bennett from UC Davis. Joining them are experienced players Laura Williams, Rian Forestier and Brooklyn Shamblin, who together aim to showcase the program's depth and versatility.
Beyond the on‑court action, the event highlights the growing platform of Players Era, a company that reimagines collegiate athletics by integrating elite competition with substantial NIL investments. The showcase's success could set a precedent for future women's sports events.
Fans can expect a high‑stakes, high‑profile start to the season, as the Trojans look to translate their offseason momentum into a compelling performance against two of the country's traditional powerhouses.
