The University of South Florida baseball program saw its season come to a close on a damp evening in Wichita, where the Bulls dropped a 10‑inning contest to the Shockers. The defeat left the team with a final ledger of 32 wins and 21 losses, a record that reflects both promise and perseverance.
Honoring the Seniors
Before the final pitch, the team paused for a special ceremony that recognized the graduating players, a moment that underscored the program’s deep connection to its alumni and the university community.
Offensively, Nathan Earley ignited the Bulls with a two‑run homer in the bottom of the first, giving the hosts an early lead. Jacob Green later delivered a clutch double in the ninth that knotted the score at five‑all, forcing the game into extra innings.
Jackson Mirza and Bradke Lohry each contributed two hits, with Lohry adding an RBI that kept the Bulls within striking distance. On the mound, Edwin Alicea absorbed the loss, finishing the year with a 6‑5 record, while the bullpen’s efforts fell short of sealing the victory.
Despite the outcome, the season was marked by solid performances across the board and a competitive spirit that kept the team in contention throughout the American Conference schedule, where they finished 11‑16.
Looking Ahead
Coach Mitch Hannahs and the returning roster now turn their focus to the offseason, aiming to build on the experiences gained and to develop the talent that includes standout arms like Will Allen and Shane McClanahan, as well as the promising presence of Dominic Pontbriant.
