The United States Hockey League announced a multi‑year agreement that designates Total Package Hockey Academy Online, a virtual school powered by Subject, as its official high‑school academic provider.
Elevating Education for Elite Athletes
The collaboration is intended to give USHL players a stable academic path that fits around rigorous training schedules and frequent travel, allowing them to pursue both scholarship and sport without compromise.
TPH Academy Online offers more than 160 courses, ranging from standard high‑school curricula to Honors, Advanced Placement and dual‑enrollment classes that can be taken for college credit.
All courses are accredited by Cognia and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, ensuring that credits are widely transferable and recognized by post‑secondary institutions.
The program’s flexible scheduling adapts to each player’s training load, competition calendar and personal commitments, reducing the off‑ice stress that often accompanies a full‑time school load.
Real‑time tutoring and dedicated NCAA eligibility counseling are built into the platform, helping student‑athletes stay on track for amateur status while focusing on competition.
Glenn Hefferan, USHL President and Commissioner, said the partnership reflects the league’s commitment to raising standards for players and their families, providing a structured development environment that balances athletics and education.
Nathan Bowen, founder of Total Package Hockey, emphasized that the model was created to let young athletes chase their hockey dreams without sacrificing a quality education, a vision now shared by the entire USHL.
