The University of Southern Indiana announced this week that Stephanie Gehlhausen and Madi Webb will join the women's basketball program as assistant coaches for the upcoming 2026‑27 season.
Alumni Return to the Fold
Both Gehlhausen and Webb are former Screaming Eagles who played under head coach Rick Stein, linking their playing days to the current staff.
Gehlhausen, a 2011 graduate with a degree in kinesiology, first served as an assistant at USI from 2011 to 2016 before embarking on coaching stints at Ashland University, Lander University and Marshall University, where she guided Lander to a double‑digit turnaround and mentored several standout players.
Webb, who completed her eligibility in 2025 after a two‑year career marked by an All‑OVC Second‑Team selection in 2023‑24, helped the Eagles capture back‑to‑back OVC championships and WNIT appearances. Her coaching experience includes a recent role at Bedford North Lawrence High School, where she steered the team to a winning season.
A Coach’s Perspective
Head coach Rick Stein praised the duo, noting that their combined playing and coaching pedigrees will enrich the program both on and off the court.
The hires underscore the university's commitment to developing talent from within and signal a promising outlook as the team prepares for the new season.
Looking Ahead
With Gehlhausen’s strategic insight and Webb’s player‑focused approach, the Screaming Eagles aim to build on recent successes and contend strongly in the OVC.
