The Utah Jazz announced the launch of Lady Notes, a new initiative designed to support and develop girls' basketball throughout the state.
The program’s core mission is to grow the sport while ensuring long‑term sustainability, forging partnerships among youth leagues, club teams and high school programs.
Building relationships that last
Amber Whiting, the manager of girls' basketball for the Utah Jazz, says the initiative is about more than just competition; it is about creating meaningful impact and lasting connections with young athletes.
Whiting brings a strong coaching pedigree, having previously served as head coach of the Brigham Young University women's basketball team, a background she says enriches the program’s approach.
Avery Thompson, a high school player participating in Lady Notes, expressed gratitude for the growing recognition of girls' basketball and the opportunities the program provides.
Thompson highlighted the sense of community the initiative fosters, noting that being part of a supportive network motivates her and her peers to excel on and off the court.
A vision for the future
The Lady Notes program aims to push girls' basketball further by cultivating a competitive yet encouraging environment, with the hope of inspiring the next generation of female athletes in Utah.
