Utah Royals FC will mark the Aug. 2 match against the Portland Thorns with a special celebration called ‘Celebrando Nuestro Futuro,’ a tribute to the Latino community’s deep roots in Utah’s sports culture. The game will be paired with live music, traditional dancing and a ceremony honoring the winners of local youth soccer tournaments.
A week later, Miller Sports and Entertainment will launch the third edition of ‘Béisbol en Salt Lake,’ a two‑day baseball showcase slated for Sept. 26 and 27. The event will feature teams from Mexico’s Pacific League, including Las Águilas de Mexicali and Los Jaguares de Nayarit, and will be open to fans of all ages.
Dustin Dehlin, vice president of business development for Miller Sports, said the gatherings reflect the community’s enthusiasm for both soccer and baseball, sports that have long served as gathering points for families across the state.
Salvador Lazalde of the Federation of United Mexicans in Utah highlighted how soccer acts as a bridge that brings together friends and relatives, while Utah Sen. Luz Escamilla underscored the role of athletics in keeping young people healthy and engaged.
Beyond the competition, the festivities will include food vendors, craft stalls and folkloric performances, turning the stadium into a vibrant showcase of Latino heritage. Organizers say the events aim to recognize the community’s contributions and to foster a sense of belonging for future generations.
