Fan‑Driven Kickoff
UTEP announced that a majority of its supporters voted to lock the Oct. 17 matchup with San Jose State into a 7 p.m. start, a first in program history.
The poll, which gathered responses from more than 2,300 fans, showed 53 percent favoring the evening slot, a choice that aligns with the Miners’ new schedule in the Mountain West.
Michael Levy, a longtime Miners supporter, praised the initiative as a way to give the fan base a tangible voice in the game‑day atmosphere.
The university emphasized that this decision is part of a broader effort to involve supporters in shaping the overall experience, from kickoff times to in‑game innovations.
Looking ahead, UTEP plans to roll out additional “Innovation Night” elements that will further blend technology, entertainment and fan participation throughout the season.
