UTEP's men's basketball program kicked off its summer workouts at the Foster Stevens Basketball Center on June 15, marking the first on‑court sessions of the offseason.
Head coach Joe Golding and his staff used the sessions to install new schemes and, more importantly, to foster chemistry among a roster that will feature 13 newcomers.
Among the new faces are senior forward Augusto Cassia, who arrives from Brazil, and point guard Leif Möller, a transfer from Evansville. Guard Donovan Criss, forward Isaiah Ward and center Delano Tarpley, a product of San Antonio's Brennan High School, round out the influx of talent.
Mountain West Debut
The Miners are slated to compete in the Mountain West Conference next season, a move that signals a fresh start after years in the Western Athletic Conference.
Golding emphasized that the workouts are as much about building trust as they are about polishing individual skills, noting that the team's depth could become a competitive advantage.
Fans can expect a more dynamic style of play as the new roster gels, and the program hopes to translate its offseason progress into on‑court success when the regular season begins.
