The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) has unveiled its complete 2026 men’s soccer schedule, laying out a slate that blends exhibition contests with a full regular‑season campaign as the program prepares for its inaugural year in the Ohio Valley Conference. The plan includes six home matches and a carefully balanced mix of opponents designed to test the team across different playing styles.
Exhibition opener against Tec de Monterrey
The Vaqueros will open their campaign on August 9 with an exhibition match against Tec de Monterrey, followed by a second exhibition against Texas A&M International before the regular season begins.
Regular‑season kickoff versus West Florida
The first official game of the season is slated for August 20 against the West Florida Argonauts, marking the start of a schedule that features six home contests and a series of road trips that will take the team to Florida and beyond.
A new conference landscape
Joining the Ohio Valley Conference adds a fresh set of rivals, including first‑time matchups against Eastern Illinois, Southern Indiana, and Western Illinois, while also renewing ties with familiar foes such as Lindenwood, Houston Christian University and UIW.
OVC tournament and NCAA bid
The conference tournament will run from November 8‑14 at Lindenwood’s Hunter Stadium in St. Charles, Missouri, and the champion will secure an automatic berth into the NCAA Men’s Soccer Tournament beginning November 19.
Coach’s vision
Head coach Bryheem Hancock said the non‑conference slate was curated to expose the team to a variety of playing styles, giving the Vaqueros a balanced preparation as they transition into conference play.
With a mix of home fixtures across the Rio Grande Valley and road trips to Florida and Missouri, the 2026 schedule offers the Vaqueros a chance to build momentum, develop chemistry and contend for a postseason berth in their debut OVC season.
