UTRGV Athletics has rolled out a revamped ticketing schedule for the upcoming 2026 football season, promising students a streamlined way to secure seats for every home game.
Under the new plan, currently enrolled students receive an email each Tuesday that grants them a brief window to claim a complimentary ticket for that week’s matchup. The offer is limited, and tickets are allocated on a first‑come, first‑served basis, prompting a rush of activity as the deadline approaches.
If any student tickets remain unsold, the university opens a secondary market on Thursdays for guest tickets, allowing friends and family to attend. Once the allotted student section is filled, the claim period ends, ensuring that the Wingstop Student Section never exceeds its capacity.
The recent south end zone expansion has added roughly three thousand new seats, effectively consolidating the entire student body into the newly designated Wingstop Student Section. This reconfiguration not only increases capacity but also creates a vibrant, unified atmosphere for student supporters.
Tickets issued under the program are strictly tied to the Wingstop Student Section and cannot be transferred to other areas of the stadium, a rule designed to preserve the intended community experience.
2026 Home Schedule
The schedule features home games against UT Permian Basin, McNeese, Southeastern Louisiana, Lamar, and Stephen F. Austin, providing a varied slate of opponents that will test the team throughout the season.
Special themed nights include Hispanic Heritage Night and Breast Cancer Awareness Night, events that will see the stadium adorned with cultural decorations and pink accents respectively, reinforcing the university’s commitment to community outreach.
Community Impact
University officials say the new ticketing framework is designed to boost student participation while maintaining a manageable environment within the expanded section, and they anticipate a lively atmosphere throughout the season.
