A new chapter for Roadrunner football
When Brad Parrott and Jim Goodman set out to chronicle the birth of UTSA’s football program, they did more than write a history; they crafted a narrative of perseverance that mirrors the university’s own ambition.
The book, titled *Still Undefeated: How UTSA Football Went From Forbidden to Significant*, delves into the myriad obstacles the program faced — from securing initial funding to navigating the labyrinth of university bureaucracy — while highlighting the community’s growing enthusiasm.
All proceeds from the sale of the book are earmarked for the Roadrunner football program, ensuring that every purchase directly fuels scholarships, equipment and future recruiting efforts. In addition, an audio version is currently in production, with longtime UTSA radio voice Andy Everett lending his familiar cadence to the narration.
Spanning 47 concise chapters and over 154 pages, the manuscript reads like a series of articles, each one spotlighting a pivotal moment. The authors even insert themselves into the story in the third person, a technique inspired by the investigative rigor of Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein’s *All the President’s Men*.
Beyond the anecdotes of fundraising drives and campus politics, the work underscores a broader theme: the power of collective resolve. As the program looks ahead, the book serves both as a tribute to past triumphs and a roadmap for the challenges that lie ahead.
