UTSA women's basketball head coach Karen Aston revealed the commitment of Jana Ros, a dynamic point guard hailing from Mataró, Spain, to the university's 2026 signing class. Ros will major in kinesiology while joining the Roadrunners program, adding a fresh layer of depth and playmaking at the point guard position.
A New Addition to the Roadrunners
Ros arrives after a standout tenure with Unió Esportiva Mataró in Spain's Liga Femenina 2, where she contributed to championship victories in both the 5×5 and 3×3 formats and earned a spot on the Spanish National 3×3 Championship roster. Her four‑year stint as an assistant coach for the club's youth teams further honed her leadership and tactical acumen.
Beyond her club achievements, Ros brings a blend of experience and versatility that Coach Aston believes will complement the existing backcourt. The coaching staff anticipates that her vision and decision‑making will enhance the team's offensive flow and defensive cohesion.
The signing marks Ros as the seventh member of UTSA's 2026 class, a group that also includes guards Emily Hunter, Kierra Merchant, Praise Egharevba, Bhret Clay, Rihyana Kinsey and Amaya McDonald. Together, they promise to reinforce the roster's depth and competitiveness.
