A New Era for UWF Basketball
The University of West Florida’s men’s basketball team will open its Division I schedule with a much‑anticipated showdown against Florida State University on Sunday, November 29, at 2 p.m. inside the Pensacola Bay Center.
The game marks the Argonauts’ first ever Division I contest, a milestone that signals the program’s transition to a higher level of competition and brings fresh excitement to the campus and the surrounding community.
UWF’s nonconference slate also includes matchups against Florida International University, the University of South Florida and Navy, but the Florida State contest stands out as the only Atlantic Coast Conference opponent on the schedule.
Athletic Director Dave Scott highlighted the significance of the event, noting that the game provides a platform to showcase the university, its athletic ambitions and the city of Pensacola to a national audience.
Head Coach Tanner Smith added his enthusiasm, saying he looks forward to testing his squad against a powerhouse program and creating a memorable experience for fans who will fill the arena.
Tickets will go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. on Friday, with presale opportunities already available for those who wish to secure their seats early.
