A two‑day baseball clinic will take place at Lunt Fields in Greenfield on July 21 and 22, offering youngsters a chance to sharpen their hitting, pitching and fielding under the guidance of Valley Blue Sox players and coaches.
The program, a collaboration between the Valley Blue Sox, Greenfield Minor League Baseball and the Franklin County YMCA, is open to all children and runs from 9 a.m. to noon each day. Participants are asked to bring a glove, water bottle, sunscreen and a hat, while a $60 fee covers instruction; YMCA members pay $50 and receive a complimentary Valley Blue Sox shirt and tickets to a home game.
Championship Momentum
The clinic arrives amid a wave of recent triumphs for local teams. The Greenfield Ducks captured the Western Mass. state tournament title on July 5, with Mason Lovett driving in five runs and Blake White adding four, while Kendra Steiner delivered the game‑winning hit in the fifth inning. Meanwhile, JD Stockwell of Bernardston celebrated his sixth Limited Late Model victory at Monadnock Motor Speedway on July 4, holding off Robert Hagar to extend his winning streak.
Organizers say the clinic is more than a skill‑building exercise; it’s a way to connect the next generation of athletes with the community’s sports heritage. General Manager Brandon Seymour emphasized the importance of reaching out to young players and fostering a love for the game that extends beyond the diamond.
Beyond the clinic, the Valley Blue Sox and their partners hope the exposure will inspire greater participation in youth baseball across the region, reinforcing Greenfield’s reputation as a hub for summer sports.
