Valparaiso University’s men’s soccer team has been honored with the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for the 2024‑25 academic year, a distinction that reflects a collective grade point average of 3.51. The accolade, which requires a composite GPA of at least 3.00 across the fall and spring semesters, marks the program’s 23rd recognition in the past 24 seasons, underscoring a sustained pattern of scholarly achievement.
Head coach John Marovich, now in his 23rd year at the helm, has become synonymous with the program’s academic culture. Under his guidance the team has amassed five College Sports Communicators Academic All‑America selections, four of which earned first‑team honors, and has produced 38 conference scholar‑athlete honorees. Marovich’s emphasis on balancing athletic ambition with classroom rigor has helped shape a roster that consistently meets the high standards set by the award’s governing body.
