Early this week, staff of the Seminole Seahawks Youth Football and Cheer organization discovered that six posters displayed on an entryway fence had been slashed. The posters, which featured athletes ranging from 4 to 15 years old, were a source of pride for the players and their families.
Organization President Tara Baldwin learned of the damage from a baseball coach and immediately reviewed surveillance footage that captured a man later identified as Anthony Dell'Aquila walking with a dog before methodically cutting each poster. Deputies arrived at Dell'Aquila's residence, where he attempted to shut the door before being taken into custody.
Dell'Aquila, 57, was charged with criminal mischief for the act of vandalism. Investigators noted that each poster had cost roughly $30 to produce, underscoring the financial impact of the damage on the nonprofit program.
Camilla Adams, who coordinates fundraising for the group, emphasized that the posters represent more than just paper; they embody the achievements of young athletes who might otherwise lack the means to purchase new ones. In response, the organization has launched a campaign to raise funds for replacements and to provide posters for families who cannot afford them.
