Vanderbilt baseball has secured the nation’s top recruiting class according to Baseball America, a milestone that places the Commodores ahead of most programs in the country and ties them with Tennessee for the most top‑100 selections nationally.
A blend of power and speed
The class features eight prospects who rank among the top 100 in the country, highlighted by pitcher Joseph Contreras, whose upper‑90s fastball and World Baseball Classic experience have already drawn professional comparisons, and speedy outfielder Noah Wilson, who set an MLB Draft Combine record for the 30‑yard dash.
Eli Herst arrives as one of the most college‑ready pitchers in the cohort, while versatile hitter James Tronstein can excel at shortstop or center field with considerable power. Left‑handed pitcher Bo Holloway, a local talent, also throws in the upper 90s, adding depth to the rotation.
Gunner Skelton, who turned down seven‑figure offers in the draft after a strong performance in the Appalachian League, exemplifies the class’s mix of ambition and development, alongside Keller Bradley and RJ Cope, who bring complementary skill sets to the squad.
The significance of the haul reaches beyond individual talent; it marks the first time since 2019 that Vanderbilt has claimed the No. 1 recruiting class and reinforces the program’s upward trajectory under longtime coach Tim Corbin, who described the group as a testament to the university’s growing baseball identity.
