Vanderbilt’s baseball program is shaping up for a pivotal 2027 campaign after announcing a roster that blends proven production with fresh talent acquired through the transfer portal.
A Revamped Roster
The Commodores have secured the services of key contributors Brodie Johnston, Ryker Waite and Rustan Rigdon, who combined for a potent mix of power and speed a season ago. Johnston batted .333 with 15 home runs, while Waite posted a .305 average and stole 13 bases.
Adding five newcomers — Bud Coombs, Niko Brini, Hunter Ray, Blaize Ward and Gavin Lauridsen — gives the team depth at several positions, while returning catcher Korbin Reynolds provides stability behind the plate.
Pitching staff continuity is another boost.
