SEC schedule unveiled
Vanderbilt’s athletic department released the complete 18‑game SEC schedule for the 2026‑27 men’s basketball season, marking the first full conference slate since the program’s recent resurgence. The announcement comes as the Commodores look to build on a fourth‑place finish in the league and a runner‑up showing in the SEC Tournament last year.
The schedule is bookended by games against Tennessee, with the Commodores opening conference play on the road in Knoxville and concluding the league slate back in Nashville. This symmetry underscores the importance of the Volunteers within the SEC and sets a narrative tone for the season.
Vanderbilt’s first home test will arrive on either Jan. 5 or Jan. 6, when Mississippi State visits the Memorial Gymnasium. The Commodores will also enjoy home matchups against South Carolina, Auburn, Missouri, Arkansas and Texas, giving the fan base a mix of familiar rivals and new challenges within the conference.
On the road, Vanderbilt will travel to face Florida, Ole Miss, LSU, Georgia, Alabama and Oklahoma, while also playing Kentucky and Texas A&M twice apiece. The double‑header format against Kentucky and Texas A&M promises marquee moments that could shape the team’s NCAA tournament seeding.
A midweek bye scheduled between Feb. 13 and Feb. 20 offers the coaching staff a chance to fine‑tune strategies before the final stretch of conference play. Television times and broadcast partners will be revealed later, but anticipation is already building among analysts and fans alike.
Last season’s fourth‑place finish and SEC Tournament runner‑up finish earned Vanderbilt a No. 5 seed in the NCAA Tournament, where they fell to Nebraska in the Round of 32. The new schedule provides a clear roadmap for the Commodores to improve on that performance and aim for deeper postseason runs.
