A New Era for the Commodores
Mikayla Blakes and Aubrey Galvan return as the cornerstone of Vanderbilt’s women’s basketball team, each bringing award‑winning credentials that fueled a Sweet 16 run last season. Blakes, the 2026 SEC Player of the Year, is celebrated for her scoring prowess, while Galvan, the SEC Freshman of the Year, is praised for her court vision and playmaking.
The Commodores must replace three starters and two transfers, prompting a comprehensive overhaul of the roster. Fresh recruit Olivia Jones, the No. 16 prospect in the 2026 class, joins returning guard Madison Greene and versatile forward Trinity Wilson, while transfer Vee Atamah from Northwestern State provides the only true wing on the squad. Adding size and depth, Mia Woolfolk arrives from Georgia and freshman Jhai Johnson bolsters the frontcourt.
Defensive stability will hinge on the gritty work of Aiyana Mitchell and Aalyah Del Rosario, who have earned reputations as tenacious defenders.
