The Rams capped a whirlwind campaign by winning the Atlantic 10 tournament championship, a triumph that represents the biggest single‑season jump in program history — a 21‑game improvement from the previous year. The victory was underscored by a school‑record 67 home runs hit over the course of the season.
VCU opened the title series with a dramatic 18‑16 win over the University of Rhode Island, then closed it out with a commanding 9‑1 victory that secured the program’s fourth championship in the past six years.
Leadership and Legacy
Second‑year head coach Sean Thompson, who took over the program just two seasons ago, credited a culture of teamwork and player development for the turnaround, noting that retaining key talent and fostering buy‑in were central to the success.
Among the standouts was Jacob Lee, who earned All‑Region and All‑Championship honors, was named Most Outstanding Player of the tournament, and received an ABCA Athletic All‑Region First Team nod. His performance helped anchor a lineup that hit a school‑record 67 home runs.
