Venezuelan Shortstop Mario Trivella Commits to Tennessee Volunteers

The versatile infielder adds depth to the Volunteers' roster ahead of the 2026 season

A New Chapter for Tennessee Baseball

Mario Trivella, a shortstop originally from Caracas, Venezuela, has officially committed to the University of Tennessee baseball program, marking the Volunteers' eleventh transfer addition this offseason and their fourth infielder.

During his most recent season at Florida International University, Trivella started 49 games, batting .287 while delivering 15 home runs and 50 runs batted in, showcasing both power and consistency at the plate.

His collegiate journey began at State College of Florida, where over two seasons he posted a .315 average, cracking nine homers and driving in 54 RBIs, a performance that caught the attention of several programs.

High school baseball in Sarasota, Florida, honed his skills, and his Venezuelan roots have long been a point of pride, linking him to a growing pipeline of international talent in the SEC.

The commitment also brings Tennessee's transfer class into sharper focus, as the Volunteers have secured arms like Hayden Simmerson, Parker Detmers, and Brody Trosclair, as well as position players Andrew Duncan and Braydon Kersey, complementing Trivella's infield presence.

Coaches expect the new infielders to bolster depth and provide flexibility, especially as the team looks to contend in the upcoming season, with the added experience of players such as Chris Ramirez, Wyatt Hanoian, and Travis Sanders.

While the roster reshapes, the Volunteers remain focused on integrating these newcomers, aiming to translate their collective talent into on‑field success.
