Season Opener Highlights
The Vermont Field Hockey team improved to a 3-0 start for the first time since 2007 with a decisive 4-1 victory over Kent State at Phyllis Ocker Field.
Isi McMahon was the catalyst of the offense, contributing three points that included a goal and two assists, while Consu de Castro opened the scoring just under two minutes into the match.
Emily Enden added a second goal, set up by Alicia Battistelli, and Jaime Lewis capped the rout with a fourth tally late in the third quarter, leaving the Catamounts comfortably ahead.
Vermont dominated possession and shot attempts, recording nine shots on goal compared to Kent State’s solitary attempt, and held a 2-0 lead at halftime while restricting the opposition to a single shot.
Beyond the on‑field action, Vermont Mutual Insurance Group continued its community outreach by donating $100 to the Ronald McDonald House, a contribution that forms part of a broader giving program that has already surpassed $6.4 million.
The Catamounts now turn their attention to a marquee matchup against No. 8 Michigan on September 6 at 2 p.m., a game that will be streamed live on B1G+ from Phyllis Ocker Field.
