On a bright Saturday at Burlington's historic Centennial Field, three Vermont high school baseball programs etched their names into the state record books by capturing championship titles in their respective divisions.
Thetford Academy, representing Division III, rolled past Bellows Falls with an 8‑0 victory that was never in doubt. Senior Tommy Amber drove in three runs, while pitcher Miles Lawrence fanned seven batters over the course of the game, underscoring the team’s dominant performance.
In Division II, Mt. Abraham Union secured a 5‑3 win over Lyndon Institute, marking the program’s first championship since 2016. Senior right‑hander Evan Corrigan, who has been a steady presence on the mound all season, said the triumph felt “like a weight lifted off the whole community.”
Undefeated Excellence in Division I
Division I saw Essex High School complete an unbeaten campaign with a 5‑0 shutout of Mt. Anthony. Senior pitcher Sam Bent had publicly forecasted the win earlier in the week, and his teammates celebrated the final out as a validation of their rigorous schedule.
The three championships not only highlighted individual standouts but also reinforced the depth of talent across Vermont’s high school baseball landscape, setting a high bar for next season’s competition.
