A Draw in Easton
The Vermont Catamounts traveled to Easton, Massachusetts, where they faced Stonehill in a tightly contested women's soccer match that ended in a 1‑1 stalemate.
Kate Hawley broke the deadlock in the 12th minute, slotting her inaugural collegiate goal after a precise pass from Aubrey Bough that cut through the defense.
Stonehill answered before halftime, equalizing in the 39th minute to level the score, and goalkeeper Sophia Kling kept the Catamounts at bay with four crucial saves, including a fingertip stop on a corner in the 81st minute.
Both sides generated chances, with Vermont registering six shots on goal and Stonehill five, while Madeline Gardner’s attempt rattled the left post and Della Weir’s one‑on‑one effort clipped the far post.
Looking Ahead to Boston College
The Catamounts will reconvene on Thursday, September 3, at 6 p.m. ET for a showdown with Boston College, a match that will double as Youth Day and Poster Day, adding a festive atmosphere to the contest.
Coach Kelsey Boos expressed confidence that the experience gained from the Stonehill encounter will sharpen the team’s approach as they aim to build momentum early in the season.
