Kyle Roane, a coach with more than three decades of experience on the sidelines, has officially joined the Troy University men’s basketball staff under head coach Adam Howard. His arrival marks the latest step in a career that has spanned multiple levels of the game, from community colleges to Division I programs.
Roane comes to Troy after serving many years as associate head coach at Southeastern Louisiana, where he helped guide the Lions to a winning season and a first‑round bye in the Southland Conference Tournament while mentoring several award‑winning players.
His coaching journey includes stints at Southern Miss under Jay Ladner and Doc Sadler, a head‑coaching role at Jones Junior College, and leadership positions at Forrest County Agricultural High School and Petal High School in Mississippi. He began his career at Pearl River Community College before earning both his bachelor's and master's degrees from Southern Miss.
A proven developer of talent
During his tenure at Southeastern Louisiana, Roane’s eye for talent translated into multiple Southland Conference honorees, underscoring his ability to refine skill sets and foster player growth. That track record of development was a central reason for Howard’s interest in bringing him on board.
Howard, who has built a reputation for assembling competitive staffs, highlighted Roane’s extensive background and strong character as key factors in the hiring decision. He expressed confidence that Roane’s experience would help sustain and elevate Troy’s recent successes.
