Terry Josting, a 61‑year‑old former basketball coach from Haughton, Louisiana, has emerged from a four‑year health hiatus to rejoin the school’s boys program on a short‑term basis, marking the final chapter of a three‑decade coaching career.
Principal David Haynie announced the appointment after Robert Price, the previous head coach, accepted a position at LSU‑Shreveport, leaving the roster in need of immediate leadership.
A Legacy of Wins
Josting’s coaching journey began in 1991 when he took the reins of the girls team at Bossier High before moving on to Parkway, where the 1999‑2000 Panthers captured 32 victories and reached the Class 4A quarterfinals.
During a four‑year stretch at Southwood High from 2013 to 2017, he guided the team to three district championships, underscoring his ability to build competitive programs.
After stepping away in March 2022 due to medical concerns, he returned to the sidelines at Haughton, where he has been present since 2017 but was unable to coach during his first two years because of his health.
Now, he has said he will remain for only one season, using the time to mentor younger assistants and help the school locate a permanent successor before calling it a career after a three‑decade involvement in high school basketball.
