Veteran Coach Todd Butler Joins Florida Gators Staff for 2026 Season

Butler's extensive SEC background and recent national championship pedigree bring new energy to the program

Florida’s baseball program is set to welcome a seasoned veteran to its coaching ranks as Kevin O’Sullivan announced the addition of Todd Butler to his staff for the 2026 season.

A Proven Record of Excellence

Butler, a coach with more than three decades of experience, brings a deep reservoir of knowledge from across the SEC and beyond, having navigated the sidelines at programs such as Blinn College, McNeese State, Alabama, Missouri and Oklahoma.

During his recent three‑year stint at Oklahoma, Butler served as recruiting coordinator and assistant coach, contributing to a staff that captured a national championship. His career spans 20 years inside the SEC, where he has mentored 36 All‑Americans and helped draft 171 players into Major League Baseball.

He will replace Taylor Black, who departed for North Carolina State, and joins a hiring wave that also includes Rich Dorman. Meanwhile, Tom Slater remains on the roster, providing continuity as O’Sullivan looks to reshape the staff after a season‑ending loss to Troy.

O’Sullivan hinted that further adjustments may be on the horizon, signaling a proactive approach as the Gators aim to rebound from their recent setback.

With Butler’s extensive SEC pedigree and championship pedigree, the program hopes to leverage his expertise to accelerate development and restore competitive momentum in the upcoming season.
