Veteran NHL defenseman Andrew Peeke has inked a one‑year contract with the Utah Mammoth, bringing his seven seasons of top‑flight experience to a new chapter in his career.
Born in Parkland, Florida, Peeke began his junior hockey journey in Connecticut before starring at Ashwaubenon High School in Wisconsin, a path that led him to the USHL’s Green Bay Gamblers in the 2015‑16 season and the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, where the Columbus Blue Jackets selected him 34th overall.
Early Foundations
His collegiate tenure at the University of Notre Dame cemented his reputation as a two‑way defenseman; he served as team captain in his senior year, captured back‑to‑back Big Ten Tournament titles, and amassed 12 goals and 40 assists over 119 games, earning All‑Big Ten Academic honors and the William Donald Nyrop Defensive Player of the Year award.
After turning professional with Columbus, Peeke split time between the AHL and NHL before being dealt to the Boston Bruins in 2024, where he contributed to a roster that had already secured a Stanley Cup Playoff berth, adding 16 goals, 59 assists and four shorthanded points across 386 NHL games.
Internationally, Peeke has represented the United States three times, winning bronze at the 2018 World Junior Championship and gold at the 2025 Men’s World Championship, while also competing in the 2022 World Championship and the 2015 Ivan Hlinka Memorial tournament alongside Utah forward Kailer Yamamoto.
His seven‑year NHL résumé includes 12 postseason games, two Stanley Cup Playoff appearances, and a reputation for reliability on the blue line, highlighted by his defensive acumen and occasional shorthanded contributions.
Now poised to don the Mammoth jersey, Peeke’s blend of collegiate leadership, NHL durability and global experience positions him as a key figure for Utah’s push toward contention in the upcoming season.
