Veteran Forward Anthony Collins Joins Wichita Thunder
The Wichita Thunder announced today that they have inked 36‑year‑old forward Anthony Collins to a contract for the upcoming 2026‑27 season, a move that bolsters the team’s depth and adds a proven veteran presence to the lineup.
Collins, a native of Langley, British Columbia, is entering his 13th professional season and brings with him a wealth of experience from a career that has spanned numerous ECHL franchises, including stints with the Quad City Mallards, Rapid City Rush, Indy Fuel, Kansas City Mavericks, South Carolina Stingrays, Norfolk Admirals, Kalamazoo Wings and Savannah Ghost Pirates.
During his two most recent seasons with the Tahoe team, Collins contributed 22 points — seven goals and 15 assists — across 125 games while also serving as an alternate captain for the Knight Monsters, a role that underscored his leadership qualities on and off the ice.
In the ECHL, Collins has amassed 110 points (40 goals, 70 assists) in 663 games, ranking 11th all‑time in games played and 41st in penalty minutes, a testament to his durability and physical style of play.
The signing comes as the Thunder prepare for a competitive season, aiming to leverage Collins’s veteran savvy to mentor younger talent and to compete fiercely for a playoff berth in the league’s toughest conferences.
Team officials highlighted that Collins’s experience aligns perfectly with the Thunder’s philosophy of blending home‑grown talent with seasoned professionals, a strategy that has helped the franchise remain a staple in the ECHL since its inception.
