Preston Gamster, a fifth‑year infielder, is set to don the Horned Frogs uniform for one more season after the NCAA granted him an additional year of eligibility under the 5‑for‑5 rule. His return adds a seasoned presence to a Texas Christian University (TCU) Baseball program that is preparing for a fresh campaign.
At TCU he will primarily man shortstop and third base, offering a left‑handed bat, a strong glove and a track record of versatility that has already seen him appear in 32 games last year with a .284 average and six doubles.
His collegiate journey began at Paris College, where he earned second‑team all‑conference honors after hitting .346, launching nine home runs and stealing 24 bases, while also driving in 57 runs.
The upcoming roster will feature a mix of transfers and freshmen, including shortstop Lucas Franco and newcomers such as Beckett Zavorek, Trace Mazon, Bammer Maes, Yusei Uzawa, as well as freshmen Chase Hilt, Kingston Kela and Brody Schumaker.
Looking Ahead
Coach and teammates alike expect Gamster’s seasoned presence to stabilize an infield that saw considerable turnover, providing a reliable bat and glove combination. With the season on the horizon, the Horned Frogs hope to blend youthful energy with Gamster’s veteran savvy, aiming to compete strongly in the conference and beyond.
