A Season of Resilience
The 2026 Beaumont Enterprise Super Gold Girls Soccer team has become a story of triumph, none more compelling than the arc of Vidor High School’s Kenya Correia. After tearing her ACL in 2024, the senior missed an entire junior season, but the rehabilitation was only the beginning of a comeback that would culminate in a Player of the Year award and a Division I scholarship to McNeese State University.
Coach Ralph Fields, already a two‑time Super Gold Coach of the Year, guided the Pirates to an unblemished 12‑0 run in district play and a 24‑2 overall record, earning him the honor for the second straight season. Under his direction, Vidor not only captured the district title but also advanced to the Class 4A regional final, a feat that underscored the program’s resurgence.
District Honors Across the Region
The accolades extended beyond Correia and Fields. Michaela Droptini, another Vidor standout who also recovered from an ACL injury, emerged as a vocal leader, while teammates such as Ariana Sandoval of Port Neches‑Groves, Addison Stewart and Addison Robinson of Lumberton, and Chantel Leblanc of Hamshire‑Fannett were recognized with district‑wide honors that highlighted the depth of talent across Southeast Texas.
Individual recognitions peppered the all‑district selections: Emily Martin of Lumberton earned Midfielder of the Year, Emma Bates of Port Neches‑Groves was named Utility Player of the Year, and Jordin Bull of Vidor captured Defensive Most Valuable Player. Goalkeepers Meagan Wilson of Nederland and Sophia Brackin of Lumberton were respectively honored as Goalkeeper of the Year in their districts and selected to the Class 4A all‑state first team, illustrating the breadth of excellence within the group.
Looking Ahead
Beyond the statistics, the season resonated as a narrative of perseverance that united schools from Vidor to Nederland, from Lumberton to Hamshire‑Fannett. The collective effort not only celebrated individual achievement but also reinforced a regional culture where resilience is rewarded with scholarships, state recognition, and a shared sense of pride that will echo into the next generation of players.
