Vikings Aim to Break Losing Streak
The Valley football program, featuring 50 players on its roster, is poised to end a 25‑game winless streak that has plagued the team over the past two seasons. Coach Mark Adams enters his second year with a clear vision: to raise the team’s football IQ and instill a belief that victory is within reach.
Adams notes that the Vikings have shown marked improvement in communication and conditioning, with the weight room serving as a focal point for daily workouts. The coaching staff has emphasized discipline, and players report a stronger sense of unity heading into the new campaign.
At the heart of the offense is senior quarterback Skyler Lincoln, who transitioned from wide receiver to signal‑caller. Lincoln’s development has been highlighted by coaches as a major factor in the team’s offensive resurgence, providing a dynamic arm and poise under pressure.
The line will be anchored by returning starters Romen King, Dontavious Thornton and Caden Shurina, who will protect Lincoln and open lanes for the running game. Defensively, the unit returns six starters, including wrestling standout Juzef Betts, who brings a relentless work ethic to the field.
Despite a challenging schedule that includes four of the first six games on the road, the Vikings remain confident. Their early non‑conference matchups will test the new system, but the coaching staff believes the experience gained will fuel a strong start in the Allegheny 7 Conference.
