The Minnesota Vikings announced Tuesday that they have hired Seattle Seahawks assistant general manager Nolan Teasley as their new general manager, filling the vacancy left by the departure of Kwesi Adofo‑Mensah.
A new direction
Teasley, who joined the Seahawks in 2013 and played a key role in the franchise’s Super Bowl victories, will bring more than a decade of front‑office experience to Minnesota.
The Seahawks will receive two third‑round draft picks as compensation for losing the executive, a move that underscores the value placed on his expertise in player evaluation and contract negotiations.
The Vikings’ search for a permanent GM began after they dismissed Adofo‑Mensah in late January, a decision that came following a 9‑8 record that fell short of playoff expectations.
Rob Brzezinski, who had served as interim GM during the transition, will continue with the club as executive vice president of football operations, ensuring continuity in the organization’s leadership.
The team had interviewed a handful of candidates, including Reed Burckhardt, Terrance Gray and John McKay, each of whom brought distinct backgrounds ranging from long‑term scouting to recent front‑office stints with other clubs.
Teasley’s appointment also signals a new partnership with head coach Kevin O’Connell, under whom he will collaborate to shape the roster for the upcoming season.
Industry observers expect the move to reinforce the Vikings’ competitiveness, as the new GM’s proven track record in talent acquisition could accelerate the team’s return to contention.
