Virginia Receives Top Academic Honors from NABC
The National Association of Basketball Coaches has announced that the University of Virginia’s men’s basketball program has been honored with a Team Academic Excellence Award, underscoring the Cavaliers’ commitment to scholarship as well as competition.
In addition, three members of the roster — Dallin Hall, Carter Lang and Devin Tillis — have been selected for the NABC Honors Court, a distinction reserved for players who maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.
Craig Robinson, the NABC’s executive director, highlighted the importance of academic achievement in collegiate basketball, noting that the recognition reflects a broader culture of excellence within the sport.
The awards also extend to programs nationwide, with more than 400 institutions earning Team Academic Excellence honors for the 2025‑26 academic year and over 2,300 players earning spots on the Honors Court.

Virginia’s latest accolades add to a series of academic recognitions for the university’s athletic programs, reinforcing the school’s reputation for balancing rigorous academics with competitive athletics.
