A Recruiting Turning Point
Virginia’s football program experienced a surge in June, landing ten verbal commitments that inject fresh talent into the roster.
Head coach Tony Elliott celebrated the arrivals of Varina High School teammates Markus Lee and defensive back Sa Rex, while Liberty Christian Academy wide receiver Jordan Burns pledged after receiving a scholarship on June 10.
Huguenot High School safety Zayvon Miller chose the Cavaliers over Power Five offers from Penn State and South Carolina, underscoring the program’s growing appeal.
The class also attracted six out‑of‑state prospects, among them three‑star running back Franklin Richardson, who is weighing Duke, South Carolina and Virginia, and Ar'Mand Stevens, a recruit with offers from Arkansas, Washington, California and UVA.
Perhaps the most intriguing storyline involves Marcus Turpin, currently bound to Northwestern, who could become a realistic flip target for the Cavaliers as the recruiting cycle progresses.
With two additional 2027 recruits already on the radar, the momentum suggests that Virginia’s recruiting strategy is gaining traction across the nation.
