The University of Virginia’s field hockey program unveiled its 2026 schedule on July 15, outlining a 14‑game season that blends early road challenges with a balanced home slate.
A season opener on the road
The Cavaliers open the campaign on August 28 at Penn State, marking the first of three scrimmages before the regular season begins. The matchup in State College will be followed by a series of non‑conference contests that include trips to New Jersey and Ohio.
Back in Charlottesville, Virginia will host six home contests at Scott Stadium, all of which are free to the public. The lineup features Rutgers, Ohio State, Liberty, James Madison and Monmouth, providing a mix of familiar rivals and new foes.
Conference battles and the Big Ten/ACC Challenge
The ACC schedule includes traditional powerhouses such as Duke, North Carolina, Syracuse, Stanford, California, Boston College, Wake Forest and Louisville. In addition, the Cavaliers will travel to Columbus, Ohio, for the Big Ten/ACC Challenge, where they will meet Ohio State and Rutgers on September 4‑6.
Broadcast partners will determine which games appear on the ACC Network and ESPN, with selections to be posted on VirginiaSports.com as the season progresses. Fans can expect a mix of primetime and weekend slots across the network.
